We know…sometimes “vineyard” seems like a goofy name for a group of churches, but here’s what the term means to us:
-The Vineyard represents a network of hundreds of Christian churches around the world including over 50 in Canada.
-The Vineyard is a biblical image for relationship. (John 15) It’s a way of saying that real relationships are one of our highest values…both vertically (God/people) and horizontally (people/people). We prefer to sing songs to God than songs about God. We like people better than stuff.
-Grapes and Wine are biblical symbols of life and joy.
In short, to us, “The Vineyard” means a group of churches that value authentic relationship over religious structures, and to us that means life and joy!!!
